THE FILM that started "Girls with guns" craze! AKA "Royal Warriors" before the 7 parts series changed to "In the line of duty" name. The first 5 minutes are silly, rest is hard core action packed from start to finish in this violent revenge tale about Michelle Yip (Michelle Yeoh) of the Hong Kong police is a mild-mannered femine Kung Fu expert; Michael Wong, from air security, is happy-go-lucky, stuck on himself, constantly talking, and smitten by her; Yamamoto is a quiet Japanese, hard-boiled cop, leaving the Tokyo police to spend time with his wife and daughter. They form an alliance when they foil a brutal hijacking on a plane flying a mob prisoner from Tokyo to Hong Kong. The mobster and his would-be rescuers dies, and this sets off two avengers who were their blood brothers during the war. "We live together and we die together!" is a better line in the Western dub. Our three cops become the targets. A high-speed chase, killing woman and children, the total destruction of a nightclub, a spectacular suicide, dead bystanders, and a flying coffin litter the landscape and thats not all in this more than unusual hard boiled revenge film that moves in high speed! Classic soundtrack too! Michelle Yeoh who was miss Malaysia beauty winner plays the role of her life here! Banned in Finland of course, too many head kicks and overall mean spirited sadistic film, not that it did stopped black market in Finland in any way. She didnt however get the same fate as Bruce Lee and his movies that were all banned in Europe! Finlands director Renny Harlin loved her so much on the black market, that he modeled his girls after Michelle Yeoh. Strong independent femine girls, NOT feminists! PS Thanks for the 1906 gift from Russia to Finland! It didnt change a thing!
