И_Катриона Балф/Клэр 01/04/2025 bbcwomanshour и caitrionabalfe ‘It’s exhausting and messy but I wouldn’t give it up for the world’ Irish actress Caitríona Balfe joined @ bbcnuala in the Woman’s Hour studio on Tuesday. Bafta-nominated for her performance in Kenneth Branagh’s film Belfast, @ Caitríonabalfe is known to many fans of time travel drama Outlander as Claire. In her latest role, she plays a Russian spy in new film The Amateur, starring Rami Malek. Caitríona, who started her career as a model before moving into acting, spoke to Nuala about how her dad’s amateur comedy troop in Ireland influenced her life. As a mother to a three-year-old, Caitríona also gave Nuala her reaction to singer Chappell Roan’s recent comments about parenthood. 27-year-old Chappell Roan said: “All of my friends who have kids are in hell. I actually don’t know anyone who’s happy and has children at this age … I’ve literally not met anyone who’s happy, anyone who has light in their eyes, who has slept.” You can listen to the full interview with Caitríona on the @ bbcsounds app - it’s the Woman’s Hour episode from 1 April. The Amateur is out in cinemas on 11 April. What do you think about Chappell Roan’s comments? Is motherhood worth it? Or is Chappell Roan right? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
